More flights to Tassie

The introduction of a number of seasonal jet services by Qantas to Hobart and Launceston over the summer period is excellent news for business events in Tasmania.

Qantas announced yesterday it will increase capacity between Launceston and Melbourne when its 110 seat Boeing 717 jet aircraft takes flight to support customer demand over the busy summer months with 11 peak days return services.

Qantas will also use larger 168 seat B737 aircraft on peak days of the summer period and additional services from Sydney to Hobart will run on December 31 and January 7 to support customers travelling for the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

Flights between Brisbane and Hobart will also be reintroduced on select dates in December and January.

Business Events Tasmania CEO, Stuart Nettlefold, said “It is great to see Tasmania is more accessible than ever. This adds to Qantas’ additional capacity introduced from March this year.”

QantasLink currently operates 46 flights between Hobart, Melbourne and Sydney, as well as 27 flights into Devonport and 27 into Launceston.

Email slip-ups can be highly detrimental to a career as one hotelier found out the hard way. An email enquiry for a piece of business turned to disaster when the hotelier emailed their boss telling them that this client was a pain in the proverbial (and we have it on good authority the language was a bit stronger than that). Unfortunately – or fortunately – they cc’d the client as well as their boss. Oops!

i want to know about running events in:

 quick fix

• Don’t skint on entertainment at your event. No longer does a house band cut it!

• And speaking of entertainment… try before you buy or at least get some feedback on who you want to use from past clients.

• To get the most out of your event agency GIVE THEM YOUR BUDGET. It can affect everything they do and if its particularly low will make them put their creative hats on to come up with solutions.

• If your company has a procurement department liaise with them at least twice-annually on what your needs are. Procurement shouldn’t just be about cost savings.
