Story time: Titanic trivia
A deck chair from the Titanic that sank 105 years ago has just sold at auction in England for the equivalent of more than AU$191,000 – but the new owner will never get to sit on it. The Nantucket-style wooden recliner came from the First Class deck of the ill-fated liner that went down after hitting an ice-berg just five days after sailing from Southampton on her maiden voyage to New York in April 1912. Fifteen hundred passengers and crew died, and 700 were rescued.

Seadream teases about another vessel . . .
SeaDream president Bob Lepisto was in Sydney recently to talk up the luxury cruise product SeaDream Yacht Club. SeaDream I and SeaDream II are favourites with a discerning group of cruisers. This is yachting though – a leisurely meander through some of the great waterways of the world and visiting amazing destinations and locations that only small ships can enter..
A third vessel has been mooted but Mr Lepito says that is still not time to start this conversation.
SeaDream’s ‘yachts’ cruise the Mediterranean and Caribbean, making trans-Atlantic voyages as seasons dictate. And the company has launched eight wine voyages for both 2015 and 2016, which will feature a winemaker onboard, wine tastings and a wine pairing dinner. Also there will be 10 visits to the Gallipoli Peninsula in 2015, with five hour and excursions available for guests.
