ICMSA delivers first fully in-person event since COVID-19 hit

Make it Happen. Make it Matter. That’s the theme for ICMS Australasia’s (ICMSA) first fully in-person event since COVID began, being delivered at the Mackay Entertainment & Convention this week.
 
The theme is an apt one given the organising committee of the Queensland division of the Association of School Business Administrators postponed the original dates from May to October 7-9 and committed to making the conference happen this year, making it matter.
 
More than 250 delegates, sponsors and exhibitors will spend three days sharing experiences and reconnecting with colleagues in a COVID-safe environment.

Borders open, restrictions ease – TNQ sees the light

With recently eased COVID restrictions effectively doubling the crowd density of outdoor events (now one person per two sqm and 75 per cent of stadiums), it was too late for the four AFL games and Super Netball in Cairns last month, but Tropical North Queensland (TNQ) sees some light at the end of the tunnel for business events.
 
Rosie Douglas, TNQ’s general manager partnerships & events, said: “Ironically Cairns-Brisbane was Australia’s busiest flight sector with Virgin Qantas, Jetstar and Alliance airlines all flying in,” she said.

FCM Meetings & Events to replace cievents
 
cievents released a statement yesterday confirming that over the next few months it will integrate with FCM Travel Solutions and be known as FCM Meetings & Events.
 
The shakeup will also see global general manager Natalie Simmons leave her role with brand on Friday, October 16, after a 21 year tenure. A new leader will be announced in the coming weeks.
