First details released of IBTM Asia Pacific 2021

The first details of the rescheduled IBTM Asia Pacific – which will take place between April 13 and 14 2021 at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore – have been released. The event will be themed ‘inventing the future’ and involve an education program and networking opportunities for attendees.

IBTM Asia Pacific event manager, Michael Jones, said: “Our industry is renowned for its tenacity and adaptability, especially under pressure and now more than ever ‘inventing the future’ feels a very apt theme as we work together to recover, reimagine and rebuild.

“We are working on a range of exciting initiatives in the run up to the event, including a regionally focused future trends report which will be unveiled in the coming weeks.”

Already, 50 per cent of exhibitor space has been sold.

Forza Italia!

In a positive sign of things to come, Italy’s shops, bars and restaurants have begun to re-open. Certain safety measures are still in place, including the requirement to wear a mask in closed spaces such as public transport and any situation where it is not possible to keep a safe distance.

To hype us all up for when its borders re-open and events resume, the Italia National Tourist Board is hosting a webinar which will take participants on a virtual trip around the country to the top destinations accessible by train. The webinar will take place on July 16, 2020, at 10 am Sydney time, and an exciting prize will be up for grabs. To register, click here.
PCOA appoints councillor for NZ

Arna Wahl has been appointed as the new Professional Conference Organisation Association (PCOA) councillor for New Zealand. Arna is the co-founder and director of Cosmopolitan, a PCO which manages mid-to-large sized conferences throughout New Zealand. An industry veteran with more than 20 years’ experience, Arna started her career as a chef in international hotels before moving into event management.

PCOA President Barry Neame said Arna will be an active participant in strengthening the relationship between the PCOA and Conventions and Incentives New Zealand (CINZ). PCOA has extended its thanks to the previous NZ councillor, Ali Copeman, for her valued contribution over the past three years.
Our industry friends in isolation: Janene Wardrop

A few weeks ago we caught up with national events leader at Laureate International Universities Janene Wardrop to find out what she’d been up to in isolation. Based on her responses, we’re sure she’s ecstatic about the re-opening of nail salons (unless she perfected the skill of painting her own nails during isolation).

Have a read through what she’s been up to here.
