C2 Melbourne creditors could get 20c in the dollar

Creditors of C2 Melbourne Pty Ltd this week agreed to enter a Deed of Company Arrangement to recoup losses from the failed company. The decision means that creditors are expected to receive around 20 cents in the dollar.

Diversity Rigging’s Michael Petrani, who is owed in excess of $100,000, said following the announcement that he and many other small business operators were doing it extremely tough since the decision was made to cancel the C2 Melbourne event.
He said as an honest business owner for the past 21 years he was horrified at the morality and ethics of some of the people involved.

The full story of C2 Melbourne will appear in the December 2018 edition of micenet.

New app set to be event talent game-changer

A new app launched today is aiming to simplify the searching for and booking of event entertainers including musicians, MCs and keynote speakers.

After investment of close to $1 million and almost four years of development, founder and CEO of the Associated Celebrity Talent App, Harris Meitanis told micenet today the online booking platform is set to disrupt the events and entertainment industry in the same way that Uber and Airbnb have disrupted their market segments.

And the good news is that it already has significant backing from some of Australia’s hottest talent including Sophie Monk, Robert Whittaker, James Matheson and others.

Mr Meitanis said A.C.T.A. eliminates many of the obstacles that have plagued the industry in terms of procuring talent for events. The app allows users to check the availability of talent in real time and then book them immediately.

PROMOTE YOUR BRAND

Simon Baggs has a rant about the business event industry

There’s nothing quite like a no holds barred diatribe about the events industry to liven up one’s Thursday afternoon. In this dish, Lateral Event Marketing’s Simon Baggs reveals the latest bee in his bonnet: the time-sapping and hotchpotch-y nature of small events...

“I can’t work out if we are blessed in the business events industry with so many industry conferences, exhibitions and awards to choose from, or if we’re so crazily disorganised and discombobulated that we’ve ended up with a mishmash of smaller events that don’t really serve us well,” Simon laments.
