C2 in Melbourne to now debut in late 2018
Original plans for a 2017 debut of C2 Melbourne didn't happen, with organisers recently deciding to postpone the event until late 2018.
What was touted as a great coup for the city, with the Victorian Government, MCI and the Melbourne Convention Bureau luring the event from its Montreal base, organisers now say that on reflection launching a brand new event concept like C2 requires at least one year of pre-production to deliver an event of the highest calibre.
An "invite only" half day preview event was held in Melbourne on December 1 for prospective partners, with the main event to now be held over three days late next year.
In a recent statement, C2 Melbourne executive producer, Martin Enault, said: "Once our team was fully immersed in the market, it became apparent that six months was not enough time to build an event of this scale that is truly collaborative. We listened to the market – including many in the business community who expressed a desire to participate, but for whom the timeframe was too short. Instead we are now able to offer a bigger and bolder, full three-day C2 experience at the end of 2018."
micenet will keep readers informed of the event's progress from February.
That was one super Dreamtime 2017 dinner
By Brad Foster
When you've been in this business for as long as I have you can get a bit blasé about attending events for work. But, credit where credit is due and I have to say that Tourism Australia's recent Dreamtime incentive showcase dinner held at the Queensland Art Gallery was exceptionally good.
Creative company Belle Laide Events produced the event and did a spectacular job.
So what made it so special? Was it the venue (which was great), the lighting (superb), the food (damn good), the entertainment (spot on)? In actual fact it was a combination of these and a lot of little quirky touches that when brought together produced something very special indeed.
And what were those special touches? Read all about them in the February edition of micenet.

Cairns Convention Centre GM, Ross Steele, said: "It is heartwarming to see how this program is assisting communities in Africa and our local Cape York region.
