Dreamtime readies in Brisbane
Tourism Australia's bi-annual event for the incentive travel sector is set to kick-off in Brisbane in two days' time, with a record number of exhibitors no doubt already packing their bags and preparing for the event.
With an anticipated 100+ international hosted buyers and media, Business Events Australia, Brisbane Marketing and operators have been working exceptionally hard to show a side of Queensland's capital that many wouldn't have seen before.
micenet will be on the ground reporting on the event from this Sunday. Stay tuned!

Malu Barios & Jo-Anne Kelleway recognised at EEAA Awards
The Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia's (EEAA) 25th annual Awards for Excellence held on Wednesday night in Melbourne honoured the industry's highest achieving shows, venues, suppliers, teams and individuals, with special tributes paid to long-time industry champions Malu Barrios and Jo-Anne Kelleway.
At its special 25th anniversary gala event, held at Melbourne Museum, the association's community celebrated the important role of individuals to the success of the association and the wider business event industry.
International Convention Centre Sydney's (ICC Sydney) Malu Barrios was named the inaugural winner of the Unsung Hero of the Industry for her contribution over many years and Info Salon Group's Jo-Anne Kelleway was recognised for her decades of service to the association becoming the 2017 recipient of the Trevor Riddell President's Award.

ICC Sydney pushes event legacies further with new initiative
With one of today's major pushes in international business events being that conferences can leave legacies long after the meeting has ended, the ICC Sydney has developed a new initiative designed to do just that.
The ICC Sydney's new 'Legacy Program' will reportedly foster knowledge exchange, collaboration and engagement across four streams including: innovation, generation next, Aboriginal Australia, and sustainability.
What it all means to the ICC Sydney and its 'Legacy Program' partners like the New South Wales Indigenous Chamber of Commerce, TAFE NSW, Sydney Water, the Sydney School of Entrepreneurship (SSE), and 11 NSW universities, among others, and how it will create real "legacies" is too complex to explain in this short article.
To that end, micenet will be speaking to ICC Sydney for a fuller explanation when the program launches in January 2018.
Calling all techy-wannabes
AV1 and the City Recital Hall is taking part in a pilot program for live production traineeships designed to streamline and expedite the hiring, training and certification of much-needed technical workers for live events in NSW.
The plan is that ArtsReady recruits applicants and TAFE NSW provides the traineeships for employers.
With the opening of the ICC Sydney and an increase in technically demanding events there is reportedly a shortage of skilled live production technicians.
