Arinex has a new CEO as Ros McLeod becomes Chair
Arinex founder Ros McLeod has stepped down as CEO to become Chair of the company, with Tamara Kavalec appointed to the top job.
Ms McLeod said Ms Kavalec was with the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre for 17 years and had spent the last 18 months at Arinex.
Ms McLeod said she was still actively involved in the business but is hopeful she can spend more time on the golf course. She is pictured right participating in last year's Meeting On The Green industry golf day (image courtesy of Oneill Photographics).
Arinex is running the big International Internal Auditors conference in Sydney next week.
Cairns Convention Centre
Cairns centre expansion concept release
Treasurer and Member for Mulgrave, Curtis Pitt, today unveiled initial draft concept drawings of the $176 million overhaul of the Cairns Convention Centre.
Mr Pitt said with some land constraints the plan is to fit a new 3000 square metre exhibition hall and supporting plenary space in either a northerly or easterly direction.
Cairns Convention Centre GM Ross Steele, estimates the expanded facility will bring in an additional $30m revenue per annum.
Can this event be called work?
Nautical Nonsense - a collaboration between Carnival Cruises and Nickelodeon and event management by Fourth Wall Events, sounds like a deck load of fun but we imagine that as far as logistics go it would’ve had its challenges.
The event saw 200 guests board the Pacific Explorer to enjoy a few hours or splashing, dancing, feasting and watching the crew get slimed.
The P&O communications manager said following that there were “more moving parts than a Rolls Royce – and it looked and sounded like a Rolls Royce on the day. Perfection!”
Thumbs up Fourth Wall.

Attend Get Global and win luxury holidays
In just under two weeks, the inaugural outbound MICE industry tradeshow, Get Global, begins at the International Convention Centre, Sydney. By just attending the event and visiting exhibitors, buyers will be in the running to win a plethora of luxury travel, stay and experience prizes.
Get Global, being held on Friday, July 28, has partnered with Touchpoint to assist with buyer registration, delegate management and prize entry system.
Get Global director and founder, Donna Kessler, said: "We wanted to provide buyers with a unique 'pass' rather than a traditional name badge. The Touchpoint check-in process, where buyers receive their pass, will be quick, efficient and unique to Get Global. Sellers will scan a buyer’s pass to give them a single entry into the prize draw in place of a business card exchange."
