Organisers of the Australian Event Awards have announced there are 77 finalists including WOMAdelaide, the Australian Open, Argyle Diamonds Ord Valley Muster, Ding Productions and Fairfax Media.
The awards gala dinner will take place on November 17. Visit the website for details and finalists.
Industry exhibitions hit the mark
The inaugural The Event Show Sydney and Luxperience both hit the mark with their respective audiences according to organisers, with The Event Show recording 1810 visitors, and Luxperience recording more than 1000 visitors – its biggest attendance to date.
The fifth Luxperience will be held from September 18 to 21 in 2016 at Sydney’s Australian Technology Park.
Dates for the second Event Show Sydney have not been made public.

MCEC drives Victorian economy
The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre’s end of financial year figures have exceeded all previous year-end results, recording a total operating revenue of $76.3 million and pumping almost $1 billion of economic impact into the Victorian economy.
For the first time MCEC has, through an exclusive report conducted by EY, measured the economic and social value of its business events over a 12 month period. In 2014/15, MCEC played host to 918 events and welcomed 724,000 business event visitors through its doors.

Australia lights up Macau’s sky
For the 27th year the night’s sky over Macau will burst into colour in October in the Macau International Fireworks Display Contest, a challenge which has brought success for Australia.
Australian teams have finished on the podium five times - first place in 1998, third in 2003, 2006, 2012 and 2014. At last year’s challenge, the Skylighter Fireworks team, led by Max Brunner, won bronze against teams from nine other countries.
